BMP's, Best Management Practices, are required by TRPA for every home and property in the Tahoe Basin. 

All precipitation that falls on one's house and property must remain on the property and any erosion must be halted. 

This is accomplished in many ways including:

1)                gravel trenches along house drip lines

2)                slotted drain at the end of the driveway

3)                rock walls or terracing to stabilize steep dirt slopes

4)                water retention basins

          The sizing of these items depend on how fast the soil absorbs water for your property.

          This is referred to as the soil infiltration rate.
